The Emirates Children’s Symphony Orchestra (ECSO) will perform live at BurJuman at 7pm today in order to raise awareness for their organisation as well as ‘Dubai's Celebration of the Arabian Horse’, a major public arts exhibition of life-size Arabian horse sculptures.
Flanked by a life-sized equine sculpture, sponsored by Godolphin for ECSO, more than 50 children playing percussion, string and wind instruments, including violins, cellos and drums, will entertain mall visitors with light orchestral music. The horses are being showcased in a multitude of high-profile locations in Dubai, including BurJuman. In mid-May 2005 they will be sold at a major public art auction, with the proceeds going to children's charities across the region, including the Emirates Children’s Symphony Orchestra, for the development of arts and culture in Dubai.
“BurJuman remains committed to Dubai’s cultural community. As part of its community outreach program, each year the mall successfully conducts the award-winning Safe and Sound campaign, designed to educate and raise awareness among women of our society about the dangers of breast cancer,” said Sabina Khandwani, Head of Research and Marketing, BurJuman.
The mall also organises the Annual Art and Music Festival, a ten-day event featuring exclusive collections of fine arts by local and international artists, musical performances, exhibitions, workshops and competitions.
“BurJuman is a name synonymous with philanthropy. Over the years, the mall has gained a reputation for supporting both charity and the arts, making it the ideal venue to showcase the talents of young classical musicians as well as the merits of our charity initiative,” said Patricia Palmer, Director of ArtWorks and founder of the project.
