Godolphin
Dubai’s Celebration of the Arabian Horse is honored to enjoy the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai in his capacity as founder of Godolphin, the world’s most prestigious thoroughbred stable. Through its support for the project, Godolphin hopes to raise the world’s awareness of the elegant Arabian horse while showcasing Dubai as the natural home of this true Arabian treasure.
Godolphin, the world’s most prestigious thoroughbred stable,
was founded in 1994 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence.
Godolphin has come a long way in a short time winning 113 Group
One races in 11 countries (Canada, Dubai, England, Ireland, France,
Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and America). What started
ten years ago with a handful of horses, has evolved into a complex
operation. Its headquarters is Al Quoz, where strategies are forged
and ambitious new targets formulated.
The name Godolphin has both history and success on its side, since
the Godolphin Arabian was a superbly handsome 18th century Arab
horse who ended up in England and became an outstanding success
at stud, with leading sire titles in 1738, 1745 and 1747. His influence
was immense, and all the first 76 British Classic winners had at
least one strain of him in their pedigree.
Godolphin’s multi-faceted philosophies and ambitions make
the Dubai-based international racing stable the ideal headline sponsor
for the innovative ‘Celebration of the Arabian Horse’.
Godolphin is known as much for winning major races in the name of
Dubai as it is for raising the profile of Dubai around the globe
and celebrating the return of the thoroughbred horse to its original
Arabian home.
In an age when modern technology has ended the dependency on man’s
age-old companion, Godolphin is delighted to be supporting an exhibition
that celebrates the glorious contribution of an animal that has
given so much joy to mankind throughout history and continues to
be a source of pleasure and wonderment.
