The theme "media" was selected since the Communications Technology Department at DMC, is involved in all forms of media design and production, all of which is visual. The concept of the eye being repeated over the form provides for a very powerful design and is easily viewable from a distance.
The design ”Abstract Eyes” by first year student, Moath Yaqoub Yousuf Abdulrahman Bin Hafez, was chosen by way of an in-house design competition involving year 1 and year 2 Applied Media students Throughout the art production process, virtually all students from all 3 years and from all programs had a hand in the painting process with some slight alterations being made only after discussions with the designer. Working together in groups towards a common goal as well as taking a concept through to completion in a public art project was an excellent experience for our design students and we enjoyed the project.
