The inspiration for this design is the classic Emirati decoration in the old houses of the Bastakia area where the Majlis Gallery is located.
In Arabia, the Majlis is a meeting place - somewhere to greet friends, to exchange ideas, to be stimulated, or to unwind - The Majlis Gallery is all these things. Though fundamentally a commercial gallery specializing in the promotion and sale of art and artifacts of an international standard, they welcome anyone with an interest in art or in the house itself.
Be it a calm, relaxed atmosphere or a flurry of activity - there is always something happening at The Majlis Gallery.
Tina Tobiassen is a Norwegian artist who has made her home in Dubai. She enjoys drawing on the contrast of Norway and Dubai for inspiration in her paintings.
